General information on studying in Mainz
In Germany, there are two semesters: the winter semester starts in October and the summer semester starts in April. For detailed information on lecture periods, please visit the Dates and Deadlines section.
The Faculty 05 at the University of Mainz has a lot to offer. You have a choice of numerous Bachelor's and Master's degrees as well as international degree courses.
All courses offered at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz are listed in the online portal Jogustine. The courses for the following semesters are published in June and January respectively. This gives you an idea of the courses offered in each degree program.
Each Faculty 05 department has international and ERASMUS coordinators who are the points of contact for universities around the world. If you want to come to Mainz as an exchange student, the international coordinators will answer any potential questions you have about their specific subject/department.
If you want to complete your entire degree in Mainz and have any questions about the various academic programs and their content, please contact the respective subject's departmental advisors. If you are not in Mainz, it is best to contact them per mail. If you are already here, you can simply speak to them personally during their office hours.
If you are interested in the structure of a degree program, please consult the subject-specific appendix to the examination regulations, which lists all modules and courses. If you click on a subject you are interested in, a new window will open displaying all possible degree programs offered in that subject. Choose one of the degree programs, click on the top file and scroll down in the document until you have found your desired subject.
If you want to spend a semester or a year at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, you need to be officially enrolled. Please contact your home university's international coordinator and the International Office at the University of Mainz for information on how to apply as an exchange student.
If you are interested in completing your entire degree in Mainz, the International Admission Office can provide you with all the relevant application information for regular studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University.
